where Nebraska meets Oklahoma
There is a certain capricious and arbitrary logic to street names here, especially in the more upmarket areas. North of Reforma, you find Rio Nilo, Rio Rhin, and Rio Misispi. South of Reforma, where I work, Londres, Hamburgo, Oxford, Praga. Condesa has named its streets after American states: here is the intersection of Nebraska and Oklahoma. There is also a smattering of tribal names from North America- Dakota, Maricopa.
Along insurgentes sur, the streets are named for Californian cities- Los Angles, Santa Barbara, Sacramento.
It did amuse me greatly riding in the taxi last night to see an freeway exit named Nebraska.
