Everyone goes to Nick's

After moot court, Tay, Zach, Sherry, and I went wandering in search of food since Sherry was starving, and Tay’s apparently adopted my mannerism of never being hungry. So we fed Sherry and walked back over to Zach’s apartment for some more Vespers.

I actually really liked that drink, I need to find a good recipe for it. Zach’s apartment, like Zach, is very interesting. His walls are covered with plaques, paintings, and he had framed photographs everywhere of friends and family. The living room wall is commanded by a series of shelves of DVDs in his massive collection, apparently collected on the basis of actor: he has nearly every Nicholas Cage movie ever made.

Anyway, after a few hours of talking and drinking, we all moved over to Nick’s, which is apparently the venerated college bar of IU. Tay referred to it as cultural touchstone for all the alumni. For a college bar, it was actually not bad- relatively spacious, big bar in the center which can serve all around, a decent selection of beers including some craft brews, and relatively well lit. I also liked the exposed metal bow truss roof, and IU basketball paraphernalia everywhere. Nicks was also the post- moot court spot for a big group of Tay’s friends including Julie, and most of the law school students on the Moot court committee.

What is there to tell? There was a lot more drinking, shots, conversations with random people a lot more drunk than we were, and the last bit of booze for the night was Tay buying us Jameson shots. Actually walking over, we saw a sign which advertised “The Perkins Brothers Band” playing inside. We tried to take a picture, but iphones are poor excuses for phones, worse excuses for ipods, and simply excremental as cameras.

After Nick’s we walked across the street to Dunkirk, the multifloored club where Tay was kicked out several months ago for unknowingly insulting the owner. We wandered around for awhile, trying to find our group of friends, and finally we walked home around 3 am.

Tay generously made us hot turkey and cheese sandwiches with chips and fruit as a post-drinking meal, and we ended up talking for another hour. Finally, after 4 am, Tay suggested we hit the hay since he had a deadline the following day, so we called it a night.
